課程簡介

This course aims to introduce students to the field of Cultural Studies through investigating the question of cultural identities. Locating within the geopolitical terrains and conceptual frameworks that are mapped out by three key thinkers, Stuart Hall, Kuan-Hsing Chen and Michel Foucault, this course will look at issues relating to subject formations as crisscrossed by gender, race, class, ethnicity and sexuality. Thinking identity politics through the necessary conjugation of the erotic, the ethical and the social, we will also probe into how it is subject to the incessant play of history, culture and power.
