On the basis of the historical experiences shared between the two political entities, the Taiwan-Hong Kong Top University Academic Alliance brings together the University System of Taiwan and some of Hong Kong’s most prestigious universities to work on issues under the umbrella of “Inter-Asia Cultures: Twenty-First Century and the Contemporary.” The joint efforts include faculty and student exchanges, co-teaching, collaborative workshops and conferences. So far, the project has hosted four co-taught courses, in addition to sponsoring the work of 8 Taiwanese scholars in Hong Kong and the work of 12 Hong Kong scholars in Taiwan. The co-taught courses attracted 80 participants. 15 students and 4 UST faculty members visited Hong Kong for summer field research funded by this project, and 20 students from CUHK have been received at IICS-UST.
